An interesting statement
The manager of my gym told me something interesting. He said that more than 50% of all the people who sign up and pay for a new membership show up a few times in January and then are never seen again. This is probably true of a lot of our New Year’s resolutions, whether they have to do with losing weight, getting in shape, quitting smoking, or getting our finances in order. Did your will power fail last year? Don’t give up, this year might be different. Success is absolutely possible..
Cheers to a new year and another chance for us to get it right.
- Oprah Winfrey
A New Year’s resolution is something that goes in one (Y)ear and out the other.

Bruno’s commentary
If you want to change something, no matter how badly you want it, it won’t happen unless you have a plan and a sense of direction. Be specific. “I want to lose weight” is not specific enough. You need to address the steps that will make you lose weight, like what to eat and when to eat and how to eat it. “Getting in shape” is not good enough. “I will do 20 minutes of cardio a day” is a step in the right direction. Living up to your resolution will help you develop the strength and courage to get things done, and that will make things happen for you this year!
Here’s wishing you, my valued reader, a happy and healthy 2010!
