My personal coach

I have an excellent trainer. He shows me what works for me in order to achieve my goals and what doesn’t. But my "trainer" is not a person. It stands for the mistakes I have made. Some of them were painful, some costly, some were unnecessary, but they all have one thing in common: they are great opportunities, a never-ending resource for learning.

All men make mistakes,
but only wise men learn from their mistakes.
- Winston Churchill

And it gets even better. While we are talking about the mistakes we have made, let’s ask why we made them in the first place. Mistakes are avoidable, so why do we make them at all?

We will find out the answer if we ask ourselves a few questions, like "Why did it happen at all?" and "What did I misinterpret? What did I miss?" and especially, "Why did I miss it?“ We can answer these questions honestly, because no one else but us will hear the answers and these answers will reveal excellent information about ourselves.

Dealing honestly with our mistakes lies in our own interest. If we don’t, they will catch up to us sooner or later, and before long we’ll be singing that famous line, “Oops! I did it again.”

What was your last mistake? What did you learn from it?
